Odile Soudant is a light artist and designer and founder of Lumières Studio in Paris. She elevates light to the status of a primary material, revealing spaces and architectures through subtle plays of shadow, reflection, and transparency. Her creative and pioneering approach to light transforms buildings, interiors, and landscapes into immersive and sensory experiences.
After leading the lighting department at Ateliers Jean Nouvel, Odile founded Lumières Studio in 2009 to support projects in architecture, urban space, exhibitions, and site-specific installations. She has collaborated with major figures and institutions such as Jean Nouvel, Anselm Kiefer, Anish Kapoor, Vanessa Bruno, the Grand Palais, Fondation Cartier, Fondation Martell, and Palais de Tokyo. Her lighting concepts and installations have been developed for projects in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the United States.
Beyond architectural lighting, she develops her own artworks of light, sculptures, and immersive installations in which reflections and solar apparitions become a language of memory, emotion, and perception.
« Before selecting materials for their optical properties, my work begins with observing the space, the natural light, and the overall atmosphere that one perceives. Only then does light become a living and sculptural material, invisible yet omnipresent, capable of shaping space and altering perception. »
